    Financial Controller £76,000 - £92,906 + Benefits Aberdeen Hybrid Working For a new publicly owned energy company set up by the UK Government and backed by a capitalisation of £8.3 billion, we are recruiting a Financial Controller. Initially part of the Civil Service, this role will be transferred over once the organisation has been fully structured and will be key in the development and implementation of financial policies, procedures, internal controls, accounting and investment policies and continuous improvement thereafter. BAU will include leading the audit, month-end, year-end, cash management and investments analysis and manages a team of two. About the Role: Great British Energy is looking for a Project Development Manager to join our GBE Onshore Energy Team. This role will play a key part in contributing to projects, objectives, and wider organisational goals. The Project Development Manager is responsible for leading renewable energy projects from origination through planning consent and into construction readiness. The role will manage all aspects of project development including land, grid, planning, environmental assessment, stakeholder engagement, commercial management and governance activities. The postholder will act as the principal coordinator for multidisciplinary project teams, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and within budget whilst meeting company governance requirements. Project Development Leadership Lead development of, typically, up to 3 onshore wind, solar PV and BESS projects. Manage projects through defined governance gates. Develop and maintain project execution plans. Coordinate project budgets, schedules and risk management activities. Drive projects towards planning consent and Final Investment Decision (FID). Land & Stakeholder Management Support negotiation of option agreements, leases and land rights. Manage relationships with landowners and development partners. Coordinate community and stakeholder engagement activities. Liaise with local authorities, statutory consultees and government bodies. Manage project communications and consultation programmes. Planning & Environmental Management Manage Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) activities. Coordinate environmental consultants and technical specialists. Oversee production of planning applications and supporting studies. Ensure compliance with planning and environmental regulations. Manage consent strategy throughout project development. Grid & Technical Development Coordinate grid connection applications and negotiations with the Grid Manager. Manage engineering and feasibility studies with the Engineering Team. Drive project design development and optimisation. Work with the Engineering Team to ensure projects remain technically deliverable and constructable. Support implementation of Safe by Design principles. Commercial & Financial Management Manage development expenditure against approved budgets. Support preparation of business cases and governance submissions Contribute to financial modelling and project valuation activities. Manage consultant and framework contracts. Support procurement activities and contractor engagement. Governance & Reporting Produce project reports for senior management and governance forums. Maintain project risk registers and mitigation plans. Ensure compliance with company governance procedures, including the Project Governance Framework. Escalate critical issues and decisions promptly. Monitor project KPIs and development progress. Qualifications and Experience: Essential Experience: Considerable experience in renewable energy project development. Track record of delivering projects through planning and consent stages. Experience managing multidisciplinary consultants. Experience working with landowners, planning authorities and grid operators. Strong project management and commercial management skills. Experience managing project budgets and schedules. Desirable Knowledge Good knowledge of the UK planning systems, with experience of working with at least one of the planning systems. Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). Grid connection processes. Land agreements and development contracts.
