Transportation Training Manager

Jake's, Inc. seeks a Transportation Training Manager to develop, deliver, and maintain transportation and logistics training for drivers, shipping staff, and dispatch in a custom metal fabrication environment. This role designs curriculum on DOT compliance, safe equipment operation, load securement, routing, and yard/warehouse traffic practices. The manager conducts classroom and hands-on training, evaluates performance, maintains records, and supports incident reviews. Partnering with operations and safety, this role drives continuous improvement, supports new-hire onboarding, and promotes a culture of safety, reliability, and on-time delivery.

Responsibilities

• Design and update transportation, driver, and logistics training programs and materials

• Deliver classroom, online, and hands-on training for drivers, shipping, and dispatch staff

• Ensure training content aligns with DOT, OSHA, and company safety and quality standards

• Conduct skills assessments, ride-alongs, and observations to evaluate competency

• Maintain accurate training records, certifications, and compliance documentation

• Support onboarding and qualification of new drivers and material handlers

• Collaborate with operations, safety, and HR to identify training needs and gaps

• Participate in incident/near-miss reviews and implement corrective training

• Promote a safety-first culture and best practices for loading, securement, and routing

• Report training metrics and recommend continuous improvement initiatives Required Skills
