Tax Preparer

H&R Block is seeking a Block Advisors Tax Advisor to provide accurate, client-focused tax preparation and planning services for individuals and small businesses. In this role, you will conduct detailed client interviews, analyze financial documents, and prepare federal and state returns using H&R Block's professional tools. You'll explain results clearly, identify deductions and credits, and recommend strategies within current tax law. Supported by comprehensive training and a collaborative, seasonal team environment, you'll build expertise in tax and compliance while helping clients navigate complex financial decisions with confidence.

Responsibilities

• Deliver accurate, compliant tax preparation and planning services for individuals and small businesses

• Conduct client interviews to gather financial and tax information and identify deductions and credits

• Review tax documents, verify data, and ensure adherence to IRS and state regulations

• Explain tax returns, outcomes, and planning opportunities in clear, client-friendly language

• Maintain detailed client records and workpapers using H&R Block systems and tools

• Stay current on tax law changes and participate in ongoing H&R Block training and certification programs

• Recommend additional H&R Block products and services that support client financial needs

• Collaborate with office team members to manage seasonal workloads and meet service standards Required Skills

• Individual income tax preparation (Form 1040 and schedules)

• Small business and self-employment tax basics (Schedule C, 1099s)

• Tax research and application of IRS and state regulations

• Use of professional tax preparation software

• Client interviewing and needs assessment
