    Tax Manager - Advisory

    Location: Brighton

Hybrid: 3 days office / 2 days remote

    Hours: Monday-Friday, 9.00am-5.30pm

Part-time and flexible working considered for the right candidate

Are you an experienced Tax professional from an accountancy practice background looking to develop your career within a varied, advisory-led role?

An excellent opportunity has arisen to join the Tax Advisory team of a highly regarded and growing accountancy practice in Brighton. Working closely with experienced Tax Directors and Partners, you will advise a varied portfolio of SMEs and owner-managed businesses across a broad range of corporate tax matters, with increasing exposure to international and cross-border projects.

This would suit an established Tax Manager or an experienced practice-based Tax professional ready to take the next step in their career. You will need a strong grounding in corporate tax gained within an accountancy practice, although training and support will be available to further develop your advisory and specialist tax knowledge.

The firm offers an excellent working environment and genuine flexibility. Alongside hybrid working, part-time hours may also be considered for the right candidate.

    The role will include:

    • Providing tax advice to SMEs, owner-managed businesses and their owners.

    • Drafting detailed reports and letters of advice across a variety of tax advisory matters.

    • Liaising and corresponding with HMRC regarding clearance applications, enquiries and other tax matters.

    • Preparing calculations to support technical tax advice.

    • Attending client meetings and developing strong, trusted relationships.

    • Supporting Tax Directors and Partners on complex advisory assignments.

    • Training, supporting and reviewing the work of junior members of the team.

    • Reviewing corporate tax computations and returns where required.

You will gain exposure to a broad range of advisory work, including:

    • Transfer pricing and cross-border transactions.

    • International expansion - both inbound and outbound.

    • Corporate reconstructions and reorganisations.

    • EIS and SEIS investor reliefs.

    • Staff incentive schemes.

    • Corporate interest restriction.

    • Remuneration and succession planning for owner-managed businesses.

    • Research & Development claims.

    • Tax due diligence and M&A transactions, including EOTs.

    • Capital Allowances planning and reviews.

To be considered, you will ideally have:

    • Previous tax experience gained within an accountancy practice - this is highly desirable.

    • Strong corporate tax experience, ideally working with SMEs and owner-managed businesses.

    • Experience providing tax advice to clients rather than working solely within a compliance-focused position.

    • CTA qualification would be advantageous, although ACA, ACCA or ATT-qualified candidates with strong relevant tax experience will also be considered.

    • Excellent technical, analytical and problem-solving skills.

    • The confidence to communicate directly with clients, HMRC and senior colleagues.

    • The ability to prepare clear, professional written tax advice and supporting calculations.

    • Experience reviewing work and supporting more junior members of a team.

    • International or cross-border tax exposure would be advantageous but is not essential.

You may already be working within a dedicated tax team, or you could be working within an accounts/audit team in practice where you have developed significant corporate tax experience and are now keen to move into a more specialist advisory position.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a large, established and progressive accountancy practice offering excellent technical exposure, interesting advisory work and genuine opportunities for continued professional development.

You will receive a salary of £55,000 - £70,000 depending on experience, an excellent benefits package, hybrid working with two days per week from home and on-site parking.

There is also genuine flexibility for the right person, and applications from experienced candidates seeking a part-time working arrangement are welcomed.

If you have an accountancy practice background and strong corporate tax experience and are looking to develop further within advisory, international tax, transactions and complex corporate work, I would be very interested in speaking with you.

Apply today for a confidential discussion and further information.
