Governance Officer needed in Basildon Paying £20.37 per hr ref 23885

Full time hours on a temporary basis

• Key Responsibilities

• Provide administrative and governance support to committees, sub-committees, partnerships, executive meetings, and member working groups.

• Arrange and clerk formal meetings, including preparing agendas, reports, and supporting documentation.

• Attend meetings, take accurate minutes, and record decisions and action points.

• Ensure compliance with the Constitution, statutory requirements, and governance procedures.

• Support councillors and senior officers with meeting administration and governance advice.

• Coordinate appointments to external and partnership bodies, including nominations and annual reporting.

• Organise and administer councillor training programmes.

• Maintain accurate records of Member training and development activities.

• Manage administration for newly elected Members.

• Monitor governance deadlines and ensure timely publication of agendas, reports, and minutes.

• Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with GDPR and Data Protection legislation.

• Promote equality, diversity, inclusion, and health and safety policies across all duties.
