Benefits Specialist
Job Description
The Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) seeks a Benefits Specialist to support pilots in the Human Resources & Talent Management Department. In this mission driven aviation union, you will administer pilot benefit plans (health, welfare, retirement, and leave), coordinate enrollments and life event changes, resolve member benefit issues, and liaise with vendors and airlines. You will analyze plan data, ensure regulatory and policy compliance, prepare clear communications, and support negotiations and program improvements that enhance pilot well being, safety, and financial security across ALPA's U.S. and Canadian membership.
Responsibilities

Administer health, welfare, retirement, and leave benefit programs for pilots.

Process enrollments, terminations, and life event changes accurately and on time.

Serve as a primary contact to resolve member benefit questions and issues.

Coordinate with carriers, TPAs, and airline contacts on plan operations and escalations.

Maintain benefits data, conduct audits, and support plan reconciliations and reporting.

Ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS, DOL, ACA, and related regulations and policies.

Prepare benefit communications, FAQs, and educational materials for pilots.

Support contract negotiations with benefits data, cost modeling, and plan comparisons.

Assist in annual open enrollment planning, testing, and implementation.

Contribute to continuous improvement of benefits processes and member service.
