Job Description
Piedmont Triad Regional Council (PTRC) is seeking a skilled Accountant to join our dedicated team of professionals focused on managing fiscal responsibilities for the organization. The ideal candidate will be integral in supporting our mission to oversee and facilitate regional issues, promoting effective governance across multiple local governments in North Carolina. This role involves maintaining financial records, overseeing budget processes, and ensuring the accuracy and compliance of financial reporting. The Accountant will work closely with our financial team to support various accounting tasks and contribute to the financial health of our organization, ensuring meticulous management of public funds.
Responsibilities

Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.

Support budget preparation and budget reviews, explaining variances and projected fiscal outcomes.

Conduct monthly reconciliations of all accounts to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.

Oversee payments of all accounts; ensuring all accounts are paid on time and report discrepancies.

Manage payroll functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with government regulations.

Assist in external and internal audits to ensure compliance with all financial procedures and regulations.
Required Skills

Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and practices.

In-depth experience using financial software and administrative systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).

Strong analytical, communication, and computer skills.
