Location: Wickford, Essex Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 DOE Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent Office Based

The Opportunity

A forward-thinking and growing accountancy practice based in Wickford is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join its established team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified or qualified-by-experience accountant looking to take ownership of a varied client portfolio while supporting junior team members and building strong client relationships.

Working closely with the Partners, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality accounting and advisory services to a diverse range of SMEs, sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of clients across a range of sectors.

• Preparing and reviewing year-end statutory accounts.

• Preparing and reviewing corporation tax returns.

• Overseeing VAT returns and bookkeeping assignments.

• Preparing management accounts and financial reports.

• Acting as the main point of contact for client queries.

• Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team.

• Building and maintaining strong client relationships.

• Identifying opportunities to add value and provide additional services.

• Ensuring work is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines.

About You

• ACA, ACCA qualified or qualified by experience.

• Previous experience working within an accountancy practice.

• Strong technical knowledge of accounts preparation and taxation.

• Experience managing a portfolio of clients.

• Confident communicating directly with business owners and stakeholders.

• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

• Experience using cloud-based accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage.

• Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
