Principal C++ Software Engineer - Manufacturing Systems
Job Description
Cargill is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead design and development of high performance C++ systems supporting advanced manufacturing operations. You will architect scalable, reliable software for industrial automation, data acquisition, and real time control, integrating with plant equipment and MES/ERP platforms. Partner with cross functional engineers to translate requirements into robust solutions, perform code reviews, and mentor developers. You will champion best practices in C++, CI/CD, testing, and security, while driving innovation that supports Cargill's mission in sustainable, safe, and efficient food production worldwide.
Responsibilities

Architect, design, and implement high-performance C++ applications for manufacturing systems

Integrate software with industrial equipment, sensors, and MES/ERP platforms

Lead code reviews and enforce coding standards, testing, and security best practices

Collaborate with manufacturing, operations, and product teams to define requirements

Mentor and guide software engineers, providing technical leadership

Optimize system performance, reliability, and scalability in real-time environments

Own CI/CD pipelines and deployment practices for plant and cloud systems
