    Job Description

    Johnson Controls seeks a NextGen Hardware Engineer for fire suppression products in our manufacturing division. You will design and validate innovative hardware for smart, sustainable building safety systems, ensuring compliance with fire protection codes and global standards. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prototype, test, and optimize designs for manufacturability, reliability, and cost.     Responsibilities

    • Design and develop next-generation fire suppression hardware for commercial and industrial building systems

    • Translate performance, safety, and regulatory requirements into detailed hardware specifications and designs

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software, systems, and manufacturing engineering

    • Perform prototyping, testing, and validation to ensure reliability and compliance with industry standards

    • Support design for manufacturability and work with suppliers on component selection and cost optimization

    • Analyze field performance data and implement design improvements to enhance safety and efficiency

    • Create and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and BOMs within PLM/ERP tools

    • Participate in safety, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives across the product lifecycle

    • Provide engineering support during installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of fire suppression products

    • Stay current with fire protection codes, standards, and emerging technologies to inform product roadmap Required Skills

    • Fire suppression systems design

    • Electromechanical hardware design

    • CAD (e.g., Solid

    • Works, Creo)

    • Circuit design and PCB layout

    • Design for manufacturability (DFM)

    • Hardware testing and validation

    • Knowledge of NFPA and fire protection codes

    • Reliability and safety engineering

    • PLM/ERP and BOM management

    • Root cause analysis and troubleshooting
