Incident Communications Specialist
Job Description
Utah Transit Authority seeks an Incident Communications Specialist to coordinate clear, timely information during service disruptions and transit emergencies. In this transportation and warehousing role, you will monitor operations channels, craft rider alerts, social posts, and internal incident updates, and support media and stakeholder communications. You'll collaborate with operations, safety, and customer service teams to ensure accurate, real-time information reaches riders and staff. This position supports UTA's safety-focused, customer-oriented culture and helps maintain public trust and reliable regional mobility.
Responsibilities

Monitor service and incident channels to identify disruptions and emergencies affecting transit operations

Draft and distribute real-time rider alerts across web, app, social media, and station channels

Prepare clear internal incident updates for operations, safety, and leadership teams

Coordinate messaging with operations, safety, and customer service during incidents

Maintain incident communication protocols, templates, and escalation workflows

Support media relations during incidents with accurate, timely information

Track and log communication performance and rider feedback after incidents
