Import/Export Compliance Officer - Defense Manufacturing

SAAB is seeking an Import/Export Compliance Officer to ensure our manufacturing and defense exports meet global trade regulations. In this role, you will manage export licenses, classify products under EAR/ITAR and other regimes, screen customers and transactions, and maintain accurate compliance documentation. You will partner with engineering, supply chain, and legal teams to assess risks, develop procedures, and deliver compliance training. The role also supports audits, investigates potential violations, and drives continuous improvement in trade compliance across Saab's global operations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure adherence to export, import, and sanctions regulations across Saab's manufacturing and defense programs

• Manage export and import licenses, permits, and related trade authorizations

• Classify products, software, and technology under EAR, ITAR, and other applicable control lists

• Perform restricted-party screening and transaction due diligence to mitigate compliance risk

• Develop, maintain, and update trade compliance policies, processes, and records

• Support internal and external audits, investigations, and responses to regulatory inquiries

• Provide training and guidance to cross-functional teams on trade compliance requirements

• Collaborate with legal, supply chain, and engineering on complex cross-border projects and agreements Required Skills
