Financial Clearance Specialist

Ascend Vision Partners seeks a Financial Clearance Specialist to support ophthalmology and optometry practices across the Southeast. In this role, you will verify insurance eligibility and benefits, obtain prior authorizations, estimate patient responsibility, and secure financial clearance before services. You'll work closely with clinic teams to prevent denials, ensure accurate documentation, and provide clear financial communication to patients. In our collaborative, growth-focused environment, you'll help scale operations, improve patient access, and strengthen revenue cycle performance across a modern, multi-practice eye care platform.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to scheduled services

• Obtain prior authorizations and referrals for ophthalmology and optometry procedures

• Calculate and communicate patient financial responsibility and collect pre-service payments when appropriate

• Ensure accurate documentation of coverage, authorizations, and estimates in EHR and practice management systems

• Monitor and resolve coverage issues to prevent denials and delays in care

• Collaborate with clinic, billing, and call center teams to support smooth patient access and scheduling

• Educate patients on financial policies, payment options, and available resources

• Track key financial clearance metrics and contribute to process improvements

• Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA and regulatory requirements
