Temporary Operations Accountant - 6 Month Contract

Accountable Recruitment are delighted to be partnering with a large, established organisation within the wholesale and distribution sector who are looking to appoint an experienced Operations Accountant on an initial 6-month contract in Bradford.

This is a really hands-on, varied finance role supporting a busy operational site. You'll take ownership of the day-to-day accounting and month-end reporting for the branch, working closely with both the operational team and wider finance function.

The role would suit a qualified Accountant or experienced QBE who is comfortable getting stuck into the detail and can hit the ground running within a fast-paced environment.

Salary / Benefits:

• Salary, £50,000 - £60,000

• Initial 6-month contract

• Hybrid working, with a minimum of 3 days per week on site

• 40-hour working week, Monday to Friday

• 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays Job Duties:

• Full ownership of the month-end process, including journals, accruals and nominal ledger reconciliations

• Production of monthly branch reporting packs and supporting MI

• Balance sheet reconciliations

• Weekly bank reconciliations and credit card reconciliations

• Weekly treasury reporting

• Commission and rebate calculations

• Supporting purchase ledger and sales ledger with queries

• Overseeing the expense ledger and ensuring invoices are coded correctly

• Weekly and monthly sales reporting and analysis

• Ad hoc commercial and financial analysis

• Supporting payroll, including timesheet checks and system inputs

• VAT reporting to Head Office

• Supporting internal and external audit requirements

• Producing additional ad hoc reports as required Who will I report in to?

When will interviews be taking place?

Interviews will be happening ASAP , so ideally we are looking for somebody who is available immediately or at relatively short notice.

Ideal experience:

• Qualified Accountant or Qualified by Experience (QBE)

• Strong all-round accounting experience within a fast-paced environment

• Confident producing management accounts and taking ownership of month-end

• Strong balance sheet reconciliation experience

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

• Experience within wholesale, retail, foodservice, distribution or another fast-moving operational environment would be advantageous

• Strong attention to detail and confident working to tight deadlines

• Good communication skills with the ability to build relationships across finance and operations

• Comfortable working independently and using your own initiative

• Flexible, hands-on approach and happy working as part of a small team
