Export Controls Compliance Officer - Defense Manufacturing

SAAB is seeking an Import/Export Compliance Officer to ensure all global defense and manufacturing exports comply with U.S. and international trade regulations. You will manage licensing under ITAR/EAR, classify products, review contracts, screen customers, and maintain accurate export records. Partner with engineering, legal, and operations to embed compliant processes across programs. Lead internal audits, training, and responses to government inquiries. Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with ITAR, EAR, and other export/import regulations across SAAB's defense manufacturing activities

• Manage export and import licensing, product classification, and documentation

• Conduct restricted party screening and due diligence on customers, partners, and transactions

• Develop, implement, and improve internal trade compliance policies and procedures

• Partner with engineering, legal, operations, and supply chain to embed compliance in business processes

• Conduct internal audits, risk assessments, and corrective actions for trade compliance

• Provide training and guidance to staff on export controls and trade laws

• Monitor regulatory changes and advise leadership on impact to programs and markets

• Maintain accurate records and prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders

• Support and coordinate responses to government inquiries, disclosures, and investigations Required Skills
