Cost Accountant - Manufacturing

American Honda Motor Co., Inc. seeks a Cost Accountant to support its U.S. manufacturing operations. In this role, you will own product cost analysis, standard cost maintenance, and inventory valuation, providing insight into margins, variances, and cost drivers across plants and product lines. You'll collaborate closely with manufacturing, supply chain, and engineering teams to explain production variances, support budgets and forecasts, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Responsibilities

• Analyze and report manufacturing costs, variances, and margins for multiple product lines

• Maintain and improve standard cost models, BOMs, and cost allocation methodologies

• Support monthly close with inventory valuation, cost of goods sold, and journal entries

• Partner with manufacturing, supply chain, and engineering to understand cost drivers and savings opportunities

• Prepare forecasts, budgets, and scenario analyses for plant and product cost structures

• Monitor and explain production variances, scrap, and efficiency metrics

• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls for inventory and cost accounting

• Develop dashboards and reports to support data-driven decision-making

• Participate in continuous improvement and lean initiatives with financial insight

• Support internal and external audits with cost and inventory documentation Required Skills
