Controls & IIoT Automation Engineer

Avantor is seeking a Controls & IIoT Engineer to design, integrate, and optimize automation systems that power critical biotech and pharmaceutical operations. In this role, you will develop PLC, SCADA, and IIoT solutions that connect lab and production equipment, enable secure data acquisition, and support advanced analytics and reliability. You will collaborate with process, IT, and operations teams to deliver robust, compliant control architectures in a GxP environment. Ideal candidates bring strong controls/IIoT experience, industrial networking expertise, and a passion for enabling scientific innovation.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, and integrate PLC, DCS, and IIo

• T-based control systems for biotech/pharma manufacturing processes

• Develop and implement SCADA/HMI solutions for real-time monitoring, data collection, and alarm management

• Connect plant equipment and sensors to IIo

• T platforms for advanced analytics, OEE, and predictive maintenance

• Ensure system reliability, cybersecurity, and data integrity in Gx

• P and regulated environments

• Collaborate with process engineering, IT, and operations to define requirements and deliver automation solutions

• Troubleshoot and optimize controls systems to improve safety, quality, and throughput

• Develop technical documentation, SOPs, and validation support (IQ/OQ/PQ) for control systems

• Support commissioning, startup, and change control for new and upgraded automation projects

• Maintain compliance with industry standards and internal policies for safety, quality, and data governance

• Provide technical training and support to operations and maintenance teams on controls and IIo
