Communication System Engineer
Job Description
Global Medical Response is seeking a Communication System Engineer to design, implement, and support critical communication systems that power emergency medical and transport operations. You will configure and maintain radio, VOIP, networking, and dispatch technologies to ensure reliable, secure connectivity for air and ground teams. Partnering with operations, IT, and field staff, you'll troubleshoot issues, optimize performance, and support upgrades. This role combines hands-on engineering, documentation, and vendor coordination in a fast-paced, mission-driven healthcare environment focused on safety and patient care.
Responsibilities

Design, configure, and maintain radio, VOIP, and dispatch communication systems for emergency operations.

Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve communication system issues to ensure high availability and reliability.

Collaborate with operations, IT, and field teams to assess needs and implement technical solutions.

Manage system upgrades, patches, and integrations with related clinical and operational platforms.

Develop and maintain technical documentation, diagrams, and standard operating procedures.

Coordinate with external vendors and service providers for support, provisioning, and escalation.

Implement and follow security best practices for networks, servers, and communication devices.

Participate in on-call support rotation for critical incidents and after-hours emergencies.

Support testing, validation, and deployment of new communication technologies and tools.
