Business Management Consultant

Communities Unlimited, Inc. seeks a Business Management Consultant to help rural nonprofits and small businesses strengthen operations, finances, and impact. In this mission-driven role, you will assess organizational health, develop strategic and business plans, and advise leaders on cash flow, revenue models, and operational efficiency. You will deliver technical assistance, trainings, and one-on-one coaching, translating data into practical recommendations. Collaborating with field-oriented teams, you will support lending, infrastructure, and community development initiatives across underserved communities in the rural South.

Responsibilities

• Assess financial, operational, and strategic health of rural nonprofits and small businesses.

• Develop and implement strategic, business, and financial plans to strengthen sustainability and growth.

• Provide one-on-one consulting, coaching, and technical assistance on cash flow, budgeting, and operations.

• Analyze organizational and community data to generate insights and practical recommendations.

• Design and facilitate workshops and trainings for small business and community leaders.

• Collaborate with lending, infrastructure, and community development teams on integrated solutions.

• Prepare clear reports, presentations, and impact summaries for internal and external stakeholders.

• Build and maintain trusting relationships with mission-driven clients across rural communities.

• Support grant proposals, reporting, and impact measurement related to consulting engagements.

• Travel within the rural South to meet clients and partners in the field as needed.
