Senior Staff Accountant

Traffic Plan is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to support our transportation and work zone safety operations. In this role, you'll manage full-cycle GL accounting, month-end close, and financial reporting across multiple locations and projects. You will prepare financial statements, analyze variances, maintain fixed assets, and support budgeting, forecasting, and job cost analysis. The Senior Staff Accountant partners closely with operations leaders to improve profitability, ensures GAAP compliance, supports audits, and drives process improvements in a collaborative, safety-focused environment with room to grow.

Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle general ledger accounting, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close for multiple locations/projects

• Prepare and analyze financial statements, variance reports, and management reporting for transportation and traffic control operations

• Maintain fixed asset and equipment schedules, depreciation, and capital project tracking

• Support budgeting and forecasting, providing insight on job costs, margins, and operational performance

• Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company policies; assist with audits and regulatory reporting

• Reconcile bank accounts, payroll entries, and balance sheet accounts; resolve discrepancies promptly

• Support billing, revenue recognition, and cost allocations related to work zone safety and traffic control services

• Collaborate with operations and project managers to review job profitability, change orders, and cost trends

• Assist in implementing process improvements, accounting systems enhancements, and reporting automation

• Mentor junior accounting staff and support cross-functional finance projects Required Skills
