Patient Financial Counselor

Ensemble Health Partners seeks a Financial Counselor to guide patients through financial aspects of care, improving both experience and revenue outcomes. In this role, you will educate patients on insurance coverage, estimate out-of-pocket costs, review financial assistance options, and set up payment plans. You will collaborate with clinical, registration, and revenue cycle teams, use technology and analytics tools, and ensure compliance with regulations. Ideal candidates bring strong customer service, healthcare billing or revenue cycle experience, attention to detail, and a passion for helping patients navigate complex financial decisions.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one financial counseling to patients regarding cost of care, coverage, and payment options

• Review insurance eligibility, benefits, and authorizations to estimate out-of-pocket responsibility

• Educate patients on financial assistance, charity care, and payment plans; help complete required documentation

• Set up and monitor patient payment arrangements in alignment with organizational policies

• Collaborate with registration, billing, and clinical teams to resolve financial questions and reduce denials

• Maintain accurate documentation in EMR and billing systems while protecting patient privacy and HIPAA compliance

• Use analytics and technology tools to identify patients needing outreach and support revenue cycle goals

• Escalate complex financial issues and recommend process improvements to enhance patient financial experience Required Skills
