National Sales Manager
Job Description
Our client is a leading provider of innovative drying agents for the construction sector. Our products are revolutionising how industries such as construction and utilities work with advanced soil drying agents, offering cost-effective and sustainable solutions. We are expanding our reach across multiple sectors, including groundworks, earthworks, housebuilding, utilities, and beyond. With a growing team and a commitment to excellence, we aim to support projects ranging from large-scale infrastructure to day-to-day site operations.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced, self-motivated National Sales Manager to lead the sales strategy and commercial growth of the Our client/s product range, with a primary focus on Our client/s RC. This is a field-based role: you will be out in the market, building relationships and developing new business across the groundworks, earthworks, and national and regional housebuilder sectors, while continually identifying and developing awareness in adjacent and emerging markets.
Operating largely independently from a home base, you will manage your own diary and territory to maximise time in front of customers and prospects. You will be commercially driven, comfortable working autonomously, and confident planning your own schedule to deliver consistent sales results. You will work closely with the Director of Strategic Growth (DOSG) and the internal Operations Assistant (OA) to ensure activity in the field is matched by seamless support, accurate CRM data, and efficient order fulfilment back at base.
Key Responsibilities
Field Sales & New Business Development
-
Take full ownership of the national sales strategy for Our client/s RC, proactively planning and managing your own diary to maximise face-to-face time with customers and prospects across your territory.
-
Identify and convert new business opportunities across groundworkers, earthworks contractors, and national and regional housebuilders.
-
Build awareness and demand for Our client/s RC beyond these core sectors, identifying and developing new market segments as opportunities arise.
-
Conduct regular site visits, client meetings, and product demonstrations to promote the technical and commercial benefits of Our client/s RC.
Merchant & Stockist Growth
-
Use merchant engagements as a core route to market, building strong working relationships with merchant branches and their teams.
-
Grow the network of Our client/s RC stockists nationally, supporting merchants with training, point-of-sale material, and joint customer visits.
-
Monitor merchant sell-through and stock availability, working with the DOSG and OA to address gaps in coverage.
New Route-to-Market Development
-
Explore and develop additional sales channels beyond traditional groundworks and housebuilding routes, including hauliers, muck-away operators, and plant and machinery wash-off providers.
-
Assess the commercial viability of emerging routes to market and bring recommendations to the DOSG to inform wider sales strategy.
Strategy, Planning & Reporting
-
Collaborate with the DOSG to develop and deliver a targeted sales plan focused on increasing the adoption and visibility of Our client/s RC across all key industry segments.
-
Maintain accurate, up-to-date CRM records on Insights covering visits, pipeline, and forecasting, working closely with the OA to ensure smooth coordination between sales and operations.
-
Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and market feedback to adapt positioning and strengthen Our client/s RC s market advantage.
-
Attend trade events and exhibitions to maintain a visible and knowledgeable presence in the market.
Key Requirements
-
Proven field sales experience within construction, groundworks, earthworks, housebuilding, or aggregates sectors, ideally selling materials, products, or technical solutions.
-
Strong understanding of groundworks, reinstatement, and engineered fill construction processes, with experience of compaction or drying products preferred.
-
Self-driven, highly motivated, and comfortable working independently and remotely, managing your own diary and prioritising your own time without close supervision.
-
Commercially minded with the ability to articulate technical benefits and value propositions to a range of stakeholders, from site operatives to procurement teams.
-
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with experience developing merchant and distributor networks an advantage.
-
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively, with overnight stays as required.
What We Offer
-
Competitive salary with performance-based incentives.
-
Car allowance, plus expenses for field-based activity.
-
Uncapped bonus structure to be implemented post 6 month probation period against set KPIs.
-
Opportunity to take ownership of a core product line in a growing, innovative business.
-
Autonomy to manage your own territory and diary, supported by a responsive internal team.
-
Clear career progression and professional development pathways.
