IT Help Desk and Desktop Support Specialist

MV Transportation seeks an IT Specialist to support reliable transit technology across paratransit, fixed-route, shuttle, and student transportation operations. In this role, you will install, configure, and maintain desktops, mobile devices, fare and scheduling systems, and network equipment at local facilities. You will provide help desk support, troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues, and ensure data security and backups. The IT Specialist partners with operations and safety teams to keep mission-critical systems available, supports technology rollouts, documents procedures, and contributes to a culture of safety, respect, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Provide tier 1-2 help desk and onsite support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and printers

• Install, configure, and maintain hardware, operating systems, and business applications

• Support fare collection, scheduling, dispatch, and onboard technology systems

• Monitor and troubleshoot network connectivity, Wi-Fi, and basic server issues

• Maintain user accounts, access rights, and data security best practices

• Perform backups, patching, and routine system maintenance

• Document incidents, resolutions, configurations, and procedures

• Assist with technology deployments, upgrades, and asset inventory

• Collaborate with operations and safety teams to minimize system downtime

• Train end users on basic technology tools and security awareness Required Skills

• Basic networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
