The Payroll Coordinator Role This is an exciting opportunity to join our central HR team and take ownership of payroll coordination across our growing UK and European businesses. As Payroll Coordinator, you will act as the key point of contact for payroll activity, supporting the accurate and timely delivery of monthly payroll cycles for approximately 1,000 colleagues across multiple locations. Working closely with our HR team and external payroll partners, you will play an important role in ensuring payroll processes remain efficient, compliant and aligned with business needs. With Macfarlane Group continuing to grow through acquisition, you will also support the transition of newly acquired businesses into our Group payroll structure, helping to review existing processes and ensure a smooth integration. Key Responsibilities Your responsibilities will include: - Coordinating and processing monthly payroll data accurately and within agreed deadlines. - Completing payroll analysis, reconciliations and reporting activities. - Acting as a key contact for payroll queries from colleagues and managers. - Liaising with our external payroll provider to ensure effective service delivery. - Supporting payroll integrations for newly acquired businesses, including reviewing processes and identifying improvements. - Assisting with payroll audits, tax year-end activities, auto-enrolment processes and compliance requirements. - Maintaining accurate payroll records whilst ensuring GDPR and confidentiality requirements are always upheld. - Keeping up to date with payroll legislation and supporting continuous improvement across payroll processes. What You Will Bring We are looking for an experienced payroll professional who enjoys working in a busy, varied environment and can bring a high level of accuracy, organisation and ownership. You will ideally have: - Previous payroll experience, ideally gained within a multi-site or complex organisation (ideally minimum of seven years experience in total) - Strong knowledge of payroll processes, compliance requirements and legislation. - Experience managing payroll data, reconciliations and reporting. - Strong Excel skills, including confidence using formulas and analysing data. - Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. - Strong communication skills and the confidence to liaise with colleagues at all levels. - A proactive approach with the ability to identify improvements and support change. - Experience of UK and/or European payrolls, ADP or similar payroll systems, and payroll integration following acquisitions would be advantageous, although full support will be provided for the right candidate who demonstrates the required skills and attitude.
