    Independent Financial Adviser (IFA)

Exchange Street Claims & Financial Services

    Finance
    On-Site
    Northamptonshire, Northampton
    Permanent
    £500,000 - £750,000/year

Some adviser roles give you freedom but no clients. Others give you clients but manage every move you make. This one gives you a genuine starting point and room to operate. You'll join the financial planning arm of an established accountancy business where there will be clients to inherit, including around £100,000 of ongoing income. That is likely to represent roughly £15m to £20m of assets, although the exact make-up of the client bank is still being finalised. And that is only the start. The opportunity is not about walking into a finished book and maintaining it. It is about taking a strong platform and building something much bigger. The wider business has recently merged with a more established northern operation. Its northern team has eight financial planners, with most generating annual revenues of £500,000 to £750,000. In this region there are fewer advisers supporting a similarly sized accountancy operation. There is plenty of scope to build stronger relationships, increase referral flow and develop a much more productive financial planning business. That means this role needs someone with real oomph. Someone who will build relationships with the accountancy partners, follow opportunities through and create momentum rather than wait for referrals to arrive. SUPPORT AND CULTURE You'll be supported by high-quality administration and paraplanning teams. That means more time seeing clients, developing relationships and doing the work that creates value. You'll remain independent in your advice and trusted to get on with the job. There is also scope to develop a specialism if that appeals, including working with healthcare and medical professionals. The management style is direct and light-touch. They expect people to work hard, take responsibility and deliver. But they will not interfere for the sake of it and they have a strong record of backing their advisers when it matters. PACKAGE Salary is £65,000 to £80,000 depending on experience, qualifications and track record. There is also a bonus scheme paying 25% of revenue generated above validation. The wider benefits package includes: - 25 days' holiday plus bank holidays - The option to buy or sell up to five days each year - Pension - Private healthcare - Income protection - Life assurance HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED You'll be a confident financial planner with at least three years' post-CAS advice experience. You'll have strong technical knowledge and will either be Chartered or making good progress towards it. More importantly, you'll be commercially ambitious without needing to be heavily managed. You'll be a self-starter who takes responsibility for building relationships and is comfortable in a business that values graft as well as good judgement. You will need to be a visible presence in Northampton and potentially Milton Keynes. The accountancy partners and other key lead sources are typically office-based three or four days each week. To build the right relationships, you should expect to be there regularly too. You will also spend plenty of time out meeting clients, so flexibility works both ways. You'll want to work for an independent financial planning business and be excited by the opportunity to help a strong regional operation fulfil more of its potential. Want a platform, a starting client base and the chance to build something much bigger? Click apply and we'll be in touch. If you don't have a CV, send us a way of contacting you. We can come to the CV later. Everyone will receive a response.

Financial Adviser - Route to Practice Ownership

Exchange Street Claims & Financial Services

    Finance
    Remote
    Midlothian, Edinburgh
    Permanent
    £60,000 - £65,000/year

You want to own your own financial planning business. You're just not quite ready to do it yet. Starting from scratch means finding clients, building a brand, creating systems, arranging support, funding the business and carrying all of the risk yourself. This opportunity gives you another route. You'll join an established financial planning practice in Edinburgh as an employed adviser on a salary of £60,000 to £65,000 plus bonus. Once signed off, you'll be given around 70 client relationships to manage and will work alongside the current owner as those relationships are gradually handed over. But this is not simply an employed adviser role. The long-term plan is for you to acquire the whole practice. The transition will take place over three to six years. That gives both sides time to build trust, prove the relationship works and prepare properly for ownership. You are unlikely to take on funding immediately. The first two to three years will be about advising clients, generating new business, growing revenue and showing that you can operate like a business owner rather than simply an employee. When the time is right, there is an established internal process to support the purchase. The business uses a set valuation method, so you will understand the likely numbers early rather than discovering them at the end. You will also have access to an internal team and a panel of lenders who can help structure and fund the acquisition. Think of it as a business mortgage. A proportion of ongoing income is used to repay the funding until the purchase is complete and the business is yours. The clients and revenue you generate yourself will also be yours. THE OPPORTUNITY The current owner has around 300 clients and plans to begin by transferring approximately 70 households. The handover will be structured. Clients will not simply be reassigned overnight and left wondering what happened. You will attend meetings, build relationships and gradually become the adviser those clients trust. But inherited clients are only part of the story. You will also be expected to find and win new business through client referrals, your own professional network and opportunities you create yourself. This is an entrepreneurial business. The current owner built the practice from the ground up and is looking for someone with the same commercial instinct. Someone who can spot opportunities, create momentum and turn relationships into clients. If you want a comfortable servicing role with a future ownership label attached, this is not it. You will have plenty of freedom over where and how you work. Being within practical reach of Edinburgh will make the client handover and relationship-building much easier. SUPPORT You will receive guidance and mentoring from an experienced practice owner who has already built the type of business you eventually want to run. The practice has established relationships with experienced outsourced paraplanners and wider technical support. All IT and remote-working equipment will be provided, together with access to: - Voyant - FE Analytics - SOFI - Tweed AI You will also benefit from an established brand, proven systems and the infrastructure needed to grow without having to build everything yourself. PACKAGE Salary is £60,000 to £65,000 plus a performance-related bonus. The wider package includes: - Pension - Life cover at four times salary - Critical illness cover at one times salary - Cycle-to-work scheme - Salary sacrifice electric vehicle option - Flexible benefits to be agreed HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED You'll be a qualified and credible financial adviser with a proven record of developing new business. You may already have clients or professional relationships you can bring. That is not essential, but clear evidence that you can generate opportunities is. You will be commercially ambitious and comfortable taking responsibility for revenue, client relationships and the future direction of the practice. You will also need patience. This is not an immediate buyout or a shortcut to calling yourself a business owner. You will need to prove yourself, build trust and grow the practice before taking on the funding and responsibility that comes with ownership. In return, you will have something most aspiring business owners do not: - A salary - Existing clients - A mentor - A recognised brand - Established systems - And a structured route to owning the whole business -Want your own financial planning firm but not ready to start from nothing?
