    Financial Controller Coleshill, Birmingham £65,000-£85,000 depending on experience Permanent Full-time Office-based Are you an experienced manufacturing finance professional who wants to be closer to the operation, influence commercial decisions and play a key role in the growth of a successful privately owned business? We are recruiting a Financial Controller for an established British manufacturer based in Coleshill. The company is entering an exciting period of growth, with plans to increase turnover significantly over the next three years and develop further areas of the business. This is a broad, hands-on Financial Controller position with real influence. You will take ownership of the finance function, work closely with the Factory and Sales Directors and become an integral member of the senior management team. You will not be confined to producing reports from behind a desk. You will be expected to understand how the business manufactures its products, challenge margins and costs, identify important commercial issues and provide the directors with the insight needed to make informed decisions. The role You will be responsible for: - Producing a full monthly management accounts pack. - Providing clear commentary and analysis to the directors. - Managing budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow reporting. - Taking ownership of standard costing and inventory accounting. - Investigating material usage, yield, labour, purchase price and overhead variances. - Improving product, customer and order profitability reporting. - Reviewing stock valuation and supporting stock-control processes. - Managing VAT and other financial compliance requirements. - Working closely with the factory to understand production performance. - Challenging pricing, margins and commercial decisions where appropriate. - Identifying significant orders, risks and opportunities. - Reporting at board meetings and contributing to the wider management team. - Managing and developing one member of the finance team. - Supporting the company's ambitious growth plans. The person This opportunity would suit an established Financial Controller, Finance Manager, Site Finance Manager or senior manufacturing accountant who is ready to take greater ownership. You should have: - Strong experience within a genuine manufacturing environment. - A clear understanding of how products are made, costed and valued. - Practical experience of standard costing and manufacturing variances. - Experience of inventory accounting and stock valuation. - The ability to produce a complete set of management accounts. - Strong commercial awareness and the confidence to challenge senior colleagues. - The ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders. - A hands-on approach suited to a growing, owner-managed business. - Strong Excel skills. - Experience of manufacturing ERP systems. Experience of Syspro or Sage would be useful, although candidates with strong experience of other manufacturing systems will also be considered. A CIMA, ACCA or ACA qualification is preferred. However, an exceptional qualified-by-experience candidate with extensive manufacturing and costing expertise may also be considered. Experience within plastics, extrusion, automotive supply, engineering, industrial products or another complex manufacturing environment would be particularly relevant. Why consider this opportunity?     Finance Manager Leicester £45,000 to £53,000 Full-time, office-based Are you an experienced Management Accountant, Company Accountant or Accounts Manager ready to step into a broader Finance Manager role? We are working with a successful and growing engineering business in Leicester that is looking to appoint a hands-on Finance Manager to lead its day-to-day finance function. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a small team, taking ownership and getting involved across all areas of finance. You may already be operating as a Finance Manager, or you could be an experienced accountant who is ready to take the next step in your career. The Role Reporting directly to the senior leadership team, you will take responsibility for the finance function across two businesses. Your responsibilities will include: - Producing monthly management accounts and financial reports - Managing cash flow, treasury and banking - Preparing budgets and forecasts - Overseeing payroll, VAT, PAYE, CIS and statutory compliance - Maintaining strong balance-sheet controls and reconciliations - Developing useful financial KPIs and management information - Providing commercial analysis and insight to senior management - Supporting operational and project performance - Improving finance processes, systems and reporting - Managing and developing an Accounts Assistant - Remaining hands-on with day-to-day accounting tasks About You We are looking for a personable and proactive finance professional who is comfortable working in a small team and taking ownership. You will ideally have: - Experience producing monthly management accounts - Experience with budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow management - Knowledge of VAT, payroll, PAYE and statutory compliance - Strong Excel and analytical skills - Experience using Sage or a similar accounting system - The confidence to work closely with senior managers - A practical, hands-on approach - The ability and ambition to develop into a broader Finance Manager role You may be AAT qualified, part-qualified ACCA, CIMA or ACA, qualified by experience, or fully qualified. Practical experience and attitude are more important than a specific qualification. Experience within engineering, manufacturing, construction, technical services or another project-based environment would be beneficial but is not essential. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will produce the full monthly management accounts while providing commercial insight, financial analysis and strategic support to improve business performance and support continued growth.
