Senior Workers' Compensation Claims Adjuster

Gallagher Bassett, a global leader in risk and claims management, seeks a Senior Claims Adjuster for Workers' Compensation across MD, DC, and VA. In this role, you will manage a complex caseload from first notice through resolution, ensuring timely, accurate investigation, evaluation, and settlement of claims. You will interpret medical and legal documentation, set and maintain reserves, negotiate with attorneys and providers, and ensure compliance with jurisdictional regulations. You'll collaborate with clients, injured workers, and internal teams, mentor junior adjusters, and drive best practices that improve claim outcomes and reduce total cost of risk.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex workers' compensation claims from first notice through closure for MD, DC, and VA jurisdictions

• Investigate claims, gather statements, and review medical and employment records to determine compensability

• Set, monitor, and adjust reserves in line with company and client guidelines

• Negotiate settlements with injured workers, attorneys, and medical providers to achieve cost-effective outcomes

• Ensure full compliance with state workers' compensation laws, regulations, and internal procedures

• Collaborate with clients, risk managers, and internal teams to report results and recommend strategies

• Coordinate medical management, return-to-work plans, and vocational services to support injured workers

• Prepare accurate documentation, reports, and litigation files for hearings, mediations, and audits

• Mentor junior adjusters and share best practices in claims handling and customer service

• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance claim quality and client satisfaction Required Skills
