Executive Underwriter Umbrella Excess Casualty

Zurich Insurance Company Ltd. is seeking an Executive Underwriter, Umbrella/Excess Casualty to underwrite complex commercial casualty accounts. You will analyze risk profiles, structure umbrella and excess programs, and price coverage in line with underwriting guidelines and profitability targets. Partner with brokers, clients, and internal experts to craft tailored solutions, negotiate terms, and manage referrals. You'll monitor portfolio performance, ensure compliance, support junior underwriters, and contribute to product enhancements in a collaborative, learning-focused culture.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and price umbrella and excess casualty accounts within authority levels

• Evaluate financials, loss histories, and risk characteristics to determine eligibility and terms

• Structure coverage, limits, and attachments to meet client and portfolio objectives

• Negotiate terms and conditions with brokers and clients while protecting underwriting profit

• Monitor and manage a portfolio of accounts, adjusting strategy based on performance data

• Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines, regulatory requirements, and risk appetite

• Collaborate with claims, actuarial, and risk engineering to refine risk selection and pricing

• Support and mentor junior underwriters, sharing best practices and technical expertise

• Contribute to product and appetite refinement for umbrella and excess casualty offerings

• Maintain accurate documentation and use underwriting systems and tools effectively Required Skills
