Executive Underwriter or AVP Underwriting Director, Environmental Casualty

Zurich Insurance Company Ltd. is seeking an Executive Underwriter / AVP Underwriting Director, Environmental Casualty to lead complex environmental casualty portfolios. You will underwrite and price new and renewal business, analyze environmental and casualty exposures, structure coverage, and negotiate terms with brokers and clients. Partner with claims, risk engineering, and sales to drive profitable growth while ensuring underwriting discipline and regulatory compliance. You'll mentor junior underwriters, contribute to underwriting strategy, and support innovation in sustainable risk solutions within a collaborative, customer-focused culture.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and price complex environmental casualty accounts for profitability and growth

• Evaluate environmental and casualty exposures, limits, and terms using qualitative and quantitative analysis

• Negotiate coverage structures, pricing, and terms with brokers and key clients

• Manage and optimize a portfolio of risks to meet underwriting and profitability targets

• Collaborate with claims, risk engineering, and distribution teams on account strategy

• Support business development initiatives and contribute to market-facing strategies

• Maintain underwriting discipline and ensure adherence to Zurich and regulatory guidelines

• Mentor and guide junior underwriters, sharing expertise and best practices

• Contribute to product and underwriting innovation around sustainability and emerging risks

• Report on portfolio performance and provide insights to senior leadership Required Skills
