Solution Architect (Public Sector / Government Programme)
SFIA Level: 5/6 Location: Telford (2 days per week initially, reducing to 2 days every 2 weeks once established) Duration: 6 months Rate: 625- 675 per day Clearance: SC Eligible
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Solution Architect to join a large-scale public sector transformation programme . This role will play a key part in driving solution design and delivery across a complex application modernisation initiative.
You will take ownership of end-to-end solution architecture, working closely with delivery teams and stakeholders to ensure solutions are robust, scalable, and successfully transitioned into live service.
Key Responsibilities

Own the solution design throughout the full delivery lifecycle

Lead application modernisation initiatives within the wider programme

Drive the development and documentation of high-quality solution designs

Ensure all solutions align with architecture governance and best practices

Collaborate with agile delivery teams and architects across all phases

Act as the technical authority , working through design decisions and challenges

Engage confidently with senior stakeholders (internal & external)

Manage relationships with vendors and third-party providers

Oversee technical problem resolution and ensure delivery aligns to agreed specifications Skills & Experience

Proven experience as a Solution Architect within complex programmes

Strong background in application modernisation and cloud migration

Experience working with both legacy systems and modern cloud ecosystems

Knowledge of technologies such as:

AWS, Azure
-
Kubernetes, HELM
-
Java, JavaScript
-
Oracle, MySQL
-
Experience working in agile environments across full delivery lifecycles

Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to act as a trusted advisor

Experience working within public sector or regulated environments (desirable)
