    Job Description

    User Researcher

    Rate: 530/day Inside IR35

    Duration: 3 months initially

    Clearance: Active SC required

    Role Overview

    We are looking for an experienced User Researcher to support the delivery of digital services within a complex Home Office environment. The role will sit within a multidisciplinary delivery team, conducting research to understand user needs, behaviours and pain points and using those findings to shape the design and development of services. The successful candidate may support a number of service areas, including Digital Notebooks, Manage Appointment Booking, and Restoring Order & Control

    Key Responsibilities

    Plan and conduct user research across digital services and products

    Identify user needs, behaviours, pain points and opportunities for improvement

    Design and deliver qualitative and quantitative research activities, including interviews, usability testing, workshops and contextual research

    Analyse research findings and translate them into clear, actionable insights

    Work closely with Service Designers, Interaction Designers, Product Managers, Business Analysts and delivery teams

    Support iterative design and development by testing concepts, prototypes and live services with users

    Present research findings clearly to delivery teams and senior stakeholders

    Ensure research considers accessibility and the needs of users with different levels of digital capability

    Maintain research artefacts and contribute to the wider evidence base across the programme

    Skills & Experience

    Strong experience as a User Researcher within digital or technology programmes

    Experience planning, conducting and analysing user research independently

    Strong understanding of user-centred design and Agile delivery

    Experience working within multidisciplinary teams

    Confident conducting usability testing, interviews and other research methods

    Ability to turn complex research findings into clear insights and recommendations

    Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills

    Experience working with sensitive, complex or high-profile services would be beneficial

    Previous Home Office, Central Government or GDS experience would be advantageous

    Understanding of the GDS Service Standard and accessibility requirements would be beneficial

    Active SC clearance is required for this role.
