Ready to use your HMRC experience from the other side of the table? If you've built your career handling complex HMRC enquiries, COP8, COP9, tax avoidance investigations or fraud cases and are considering your next move outside HMRC, this is an opportunity to join one of the UK's leading Tax Investigations & Disputes teams.

You'll advise high-net-worth individuals, owner-managed businesses and large corporates through some of the most technically challenging and commercially sensitive tax enquiries in the market. Your experience understanding how HMRC approaches enquiries will be invaluable in helping clients achieve the best possible outcomes.

The Opportunity Working alongside recognised leaders in the Tax Investigations field, you'll take ownership of a varied caseload involving:

    • COP8 and COP9 enquiries

    • Contractual Disclosure Facility (CDF) cases

    • HMRC civil investigations and dispute resolution

    • Voluntary disclosures

    • Tax avoidance enquiries

    • Code of Practice negotiations

    • Settlement discussions with HMRC

    • Complex technical advisory work

    • Tribunal support where required

This is a genuinely advisory role where you'll be trusted to apply your technical expertise rather than simply follow process.

We're keen to speak with you if you have experience in:

    • HMRC Tax Investigations

    • Fraud Investigation Service (FIS)

    • Wealthy & Mid-Sized Business

    • Individuals & Small Business Compliance

    • Counter Avoidance

    • Large Business Directorate

    • Specialist investigations teams

    • COP8 and/or COP9 enquiries

    • Tax Disputes or HMRC Compliance

Professional qualifications (ATT, CTA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent) are welcomed but not essential if you have strong HMRC investigations experience.

    Why make the move?

    • Work on technically challenging cases from the client side.

    • Greater autonomy and influence over strategy.

    • Flexible hybrid working and an excellent work-life balance.

    • Outstanding earning potential, including bonus and long-term salary progression.

    • Direct access to Partners recognised as leaders in Tax Investigations.

    • Clear career progression with genuine opportunities to develop into Director and beyond.

    • Join one of the fastest-growing specialist Tax Investigations teams in the UK.

If you're looking to apply your HMRC investigations expertise in a more commercial environment while continuing to work on the complex cases you enjoy, we'd love to have a confidential conversation.
