    Competitive

About the role We are looking for an experienced Cabling & Infrastructure Engineer to undertake structured cabling and network infrastructure installations across our customer sites. The primary focus will be installing, terminating, testing and maintaining Cat5e and Cat6 structured cabling. The successful candidate should also be comfortable installing communications cabinets and working with switches, routers, wireless access points and other network equipment. Experience with fibre cabling and wireless point-to-point installations would be particularly valuable. Previous exposure to CCTV or access-control systems would be useful but is not required. This is a hands-on field position requiring someone who can complete installations neatly, safely and professionally while working independently at customer premises. Key responsibilities Structured cabling - Install, route and terminate Cat5e and Cat6 structured cabling through offices, warehouses, ceiling spaces, floor voids and suitable containment. - Install trunking, conduit, cable baskets, network outlets, modules, patch panels and RJ45 connectors. - Install and organise communications cabinets, racks, patch panels and cable-management equipment. - Test, label and document completed cable runs, diagnosing and repairing damaged or poorly performing connections. - Trace existing cabling, complete basic site surveys and identify suitable routes, materials and equipment while following relevant safety and installation standards. Fibre infrastructure Where the successful candidate has the relevant experience: - Install internal and external fibre-optic cabling, patch panels, enclosures and termination boxes. - Terminate, splice or connect fibre cabling and associated equipment. - Test fibre links and assist with diagnosing fibre connectivity faults. Fibre experience is desirable rather than essential where the candidate has strong copper-cabling experience and is willing to undertake further training. Network and wireless installations - Install and mount switches, routers, wireless access points, communications cabinets, power-distribution units and related infrastructure. - Patch equipment into the correct cabinet and switch ports and assist technical engineers with network deployments and equipment replacements. - Install external wireless access points and assist with wireless point-to-point and point-to-multipoint deployments. - Route and terminate external-grade or shielded network cabling and install associated mounting equipment. Advanced configuration of switches, routers and wireless systems is not a primary requirement. However, the engineer should understand how the equipment connects and be able to follow a supplied deployment plan. Essential experience and skills - Practical experience installing, terminating and testing Cat5e and Cat6 structured cabling. - Experience using appropriate cable-testing equipment and diagnosing physical connectivity faults. - Ability to route cables and install containment neatly and safely. - Familiarity with switches, routers and wireless access points, supported by a basic understanding of network connectivity. - Ability to read network diagrams, installation plans and port schedules. - Confidence using hand tools, power tools, ladders and cabling equipment while working independently at customer sites. - Strong problem-solving, organisation, communication and customer-service skills, with a full UK driving licence and willingness to travel. The role also requires the ability to carry equipment and undertake the physical activities reasonably associated with cabling and infrastructure installations. Desirable experience - Fibre-optic or Cat6a installation, termination, splicing and testing. - Cable-certification equipment, formal test reporting and external-grade cabling. - Wireless point-to-point installations, external wireless equipment, VoIP, IP CCTV or access-control systems. - Relevant cabling, fibre, networking or health and safety qualifications, including ECS, CSCS, IPAF or PASMA. Previous experience working for a telecommunications provider, network installer or IT services company would be advantageous. Personal qualities We are looking for someone reliable, organised and punctual who takes pride in completing neat and professional installations. You should take ownership of your work, communicate clearly with customers and colleagues, treat customer premises with care and understand that an installation is not complete until it has been properly terminated, tested, labelled and documented. The successful candidate should be able to work independently without compromising safety or quality, adapt between planned projects and urgent repair work, and be willing to develop their networking, fibre and wireless-infrastructure skills. What we offer - Company vehicle or business mileage allowance, depending on the arrangement. - Company laptop, tools and testing equipment. - Workplace pension and holiday entitlement. - Relevant training and professional-development opportunities. - Opportunities to develop your skills and take responsibility for larger infrastructure projects.

    Contract

I'm working with a client in the Insurance industry on a Senior QA Automation Engineer role and am keen to speak with QA engineers who have built mobile automation frameworks from scratch. Set up a mobile automation framework from scratch - chosen the tool, written the first tests, integrated it into CI, and grown coverage - across native iOS and Android apps. Web/API is a given; mobile is the main factor. Must-haves - - Mobile automation framework built from scratch. The CV must describe choosing the tool, structuring the framework, writing the first suite, and growing it. Not just maintenance part of it. - A named mobile automation tool used in production - Maestro, Appium, Espresso, or XCUITest. The name must appear in a work bullet, not only in the skills list. - Native iOS and Android exposure, not responsive web on BrowserStack. We want to see signing/provisioning, simulators/emulators, TestFlight, real-device labs etc named in their experience. - Mobile CI/CD integration - Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar - for app build artefacts (IPA/APK), not just web test runs. - Playwright/Postman (or equivalent modern web & API automation) on the web side. These are still important. Strong nice-to-haves - - Maestro specifically (we're standardising on it). - BrowserStack, TestFlight, Intune named in real project context. - Test coverage for native-mobile-only behaviours - offline mode, push notifications, deep links, biometric auth, app-permission flows, device fragmentation. - Insurance, fintech, or payments domain experience. - Azure DevOps Pipelines specifically. - AI dev-tooling (Copilot, Cursor etc) in current use. If we are successful in finding you an assignment, you will receive a Key Information Document which will be specific to the vendor set-up you have chosen and your placement. Senior Embedded Software Engineer Embedded C/C++ Merseyside £55k £65k Hybrid Senior Embedded Software Engineer wanted for an established embedded electronics business in the North West. Embedded C / C++, CAN bus, 32-bit microcontrollers, and real vehicles to prove your code in. Commutable from Liverpool, Chester, Warrington and across Cheshire and Merseyside. They build intelligent systems that go into specialist vehicles. Real kit, in real vehicles, doing a real job. And that's the tone of the role: bench, lab and vehicle work, not always at a desk and a backlog. You'd be the senior firmware presence in the R&D team. Leading the build from architecture through to proving it works in the vehicle itself. Setting the quality bar. Bringing the less experienced developers on. The engineer they're after - Substantial years of commercial embedded firmware development in C / C++ on 32-bit microcontrollers with a history of leading delivery on tricky products. - Solid vehicle-bus background. CAN bus, LIN or similar is essential, and the deeper the better: bus design, message architecture, diagnostics, and the tooling to troubleshoot it (CANalyzer, PCAN, BusMaster or equivalent). - Actually happy in a vehicle. Harnesses, wiring, in-vehicle debugging, commissioning. - Strong real-time embedded fundamentals: RTOS, interrupts, low-level drivers, and the usual protocols (SPI, I2C, UART). - Confident reading schematics and working shoulder to shoulder with hardware engineers. Additional experience of interest CAN-FD, J1939, UDS or ISO 26262 functional safety. Vehicle body control systems. Bootloader and OTA firmware development. The shape of it Based in the North West, commutable from Liverpool, Chester and Cheshire. Hybrid in principle, but the lab, the bench and the vehicles are on site, so plan on three days a week minimum in the building. Workshop-anchored, not remote-first. If that sounds like your kind of work, or you know the person who should see it, get in touch or apply today.
