Job Description
Automation Engineer - Contract Immediate Start (must be able to on/around 10th August)
Initial 3-month contract, with strong potential to extend to 6 months
We are recruiting on behalf of our client, who is looking for experienced Automation Engineers to join a fast-paced, multi-site automation programme across the UK and Europe.
You will work alongside the client s in-house engineering and controls teams, supporting PLC code development, implementation, commissioning, testing and continuous improvement across a network of highly automated sites. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on Automation or Controls Engineer to join a high-performing team delivering complex, high-impact projects.
Frequent travel across UK will be required.
What You ll Be Doing

Developing, testing and commissioning PLC code using Siemens TIA Portal

Supporting fault-finding and troubleshooting on live automated systems

Leading and contributing to process improvement initiatives

Integrating and migrating code across Siemens TIA Portal versions

Supporting the deployment and commissioning of new automation projects

Acting as a key technical point of contact within a skilled team of contractors and permanent engineers What We re Looking For

5+ years experience coding and commissioning in Siemens TIA

Strong working knowledge of Siemens TIA Portal (version 16 and above)

Experience troubleshooting complex issues across Controls, Fieldbus (Profinet, Profibus, ASi) and IT platforms

Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex technical issues to a range of stakeholders

Strong project management, organisation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and teams

Good written and verbal English

Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision

Sound knowledge of machine safety regulations and safe working practices
-
Willingness and ability to travel frequently across the UK.
Desirable Skills
-
Knowledge of the Ignition platform for building SCADA/HMI systems

Familiarity with SCADA and OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) concepts

Ability to analyse performance metrics to drive process optimisation
