    A leading IT Consultancy is seeking a Software Engineer Java 11 on a contract basis to work for a leading Financial Services client. You will be required to work onsite at the clients office in West Sussex 3 times per week. Please DO NOT apply unless you can commit to this. The Software Engineer Java 11 must have the following skills/experience: - Hands on Java application design, software development and automated testing (Java 11 and higher). - Intermediate knowledge of basic infrastructure technologies and components. - Familiarity with application containers based on spring, Vert.X or equivalent. - Familiarity with Cloud services including DevOps concepts and CI/CD tools. - Experience with Event-driven/Micro-services architecture for high-availability/distributed systems. - Experience using Spring Framework, Junit, GitHub, Microservices, Splunk and API's. - Experience with Test driven development and unit testing frameworks. - Proficient understanding of code versioning tools (Git) and build toolings Maven or Gradle.     Deskside Desktop Support - 6 months initially - London 5 days onsite 140 per day inside Service Delivery & Desktop Support Provide on-site desktop support for end users. Deliver desk-side support during business hours. Take end-to-end ownership of incidents and service requests to ensure timely resolution. Coordinate with cross-functional IT teams for issue resolution. Support user onboarding, including device setup and account provisioning. Manage incidents and service requests using ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow) Ensure accurate ticket logging, categorisation, and resolution tracking. Adhere to SLAs and follow ITIL-based processes. Prioritise and resolve issues based on business impact. Install, configure, and troubleshoot Windows laptops and desktops. Support multi-monitor setups and peripheral devices. Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network connectivity issues. Provide support for collaboration tools (e.g., Microsoft 365, Teams). Support mobile devices and remote access solutions. Provide support for VDI/Citrix or virtual desktop environments.

Required qualifications, capabilities & skills - Formal training or certification on data engineering concepts and applied experience - Recent hands-on professional experience in a reporting, data analysis or business intelligence role - Experience in database querying techniques and SQL - Understanding of how to manage and optimize queries for large volumes of data within different kinds of data stores (including relational data stores) - Experience in designing and implementing effective tests (unit, component, integration, end-to-end, performance, etc.)
